LinkShare Japan
Anyone ever been able to get into LinkShare Japan? What did you have to do? Who did you have to talk to? Is your site in Japanese? Do you have a bank in Japan?

Any and all information would be super helpful! Thanks!

RE: LinkShare Japan
Hey Lakes -

I talked to someone today at Linkshare Japan. My site was approved even though it was in English. The products that I sell are in English but are on the App Store in Japan, that is why I was approved.

They said that all I need now is a bank account in Japan. Unfortunately, I don't think it will be possible for me to get one. From what I've found, to get an account in Japan that accepts deposits, you must live in Japan for at least 90 days and have a Japanese address. You'd also need to show your passport.

Unless Linkshare find a way to send payments OUTSIDE of Japan, for example just sending me a check in Yen overseas (how hard can that really be, I mean come on) then doing Linkshare in Japan may be out of the question.

I'm still looking into it.

Ethan

RE: LinkShare Japan
Well done! You got a step further then me. Are you willing to share your contact person inside LinkShare Japan?

Getting a bank account sounds like a major challenge. Anyway to get an account with an international bank that also has a branch in Japan? Would that be a workaround?

You would really think that if everyone else can send money overseas then LinkShare Japan could.... Frustrating eh?

RE: LinkShare Japan
I spoke with Mari Tozawa (mari_tozawa@asia.apple.com).

From what I found, you CAN open an account that may be used in Japan, from companies such as Citibank Japan, but in order for that account to take DEPOSITS from a Japanese company you must live there for 90 days and have a Visa and address and open it up there. Maybe it's the law?

I haven't contacted Citibank Japan or Citibank here in the USA yet, but they may be the best bet (they have English speaking staff in Japan). Maybe if you can get through to the right person then there is something that can be done.
